Video packaging is where creative direction meets audience behavior. For Off The Left Eye and related Swedenborg Foundation channels, the challenge has been to turn complex spiritual, philosophical, and theological topics into clear, compelling visual hooks that can compete in fast-moving digital feeds.
Role
Creative Production Director / Art Director
I lead the visual packaging strategy for long-form episodes, clips, member content, and new series launches, including thumbnail direction, title treatment, visual hierarchy, emotional tone, and audience-facing presentation.
Creative Challenge
Many topics begin as abstract ideas: the afterlife, spiritual fear, heaven and hell, biblical symbolism, consciousness, near-death experiences, and inner transformation. The challenge is to create visual packaging that makes the core tension immediately readable without oversimplifying the topic or misrepresenting the content.
The goal is to create thumbnails and visual assets that are clear at small sizes, emotionally legible, visually distinct, and aligned with the promise of the episode.
Packaging Approach
The visual strategy focuses on clarity, curiosity, and emotional readability. Each thumbnail needs to communicate the central question or tension quickly while working alongside the title rather than repeating it.
Key priorities include:
Creating a strong visual hook that supports the title
Establishing clear hierarchy between subject, expression, object, and text
Using contrast, scale, and composition to remain readable in crowded feeds
Matching visual tone to audience expectation and topic sensitivity
Designing packaging systems that can be repeated across shows and formats
Execution
Thumbnail concepts are developed around the viewer’s first impression: what they notice, what question forms in their mind, and whether the image/title pairing feels worth clicking. This includes art direction for host expression, symbolic imagery, graphic overlays, typography, color, and compositional balance.
Outcome
Directed thumbnail and video packaging across a high-volume content pipeline
Supported consistent weekly publishing across multiple channels and formats
Helped translate complex subject matter into accessible visual entry points
Contributed to a multi-channel content system generating 2.5M+ views, 492K+ watch hours, and 22K+ new subscribers over the last year
